Class: May 2021

Hometown: Burtonsville, MD

Major: Finance and Information Systems

Minor: French

Why I decided to enroll at the University of Maryland:  I chose the University of Maryland because it's close to home, has a renowned business school, and a beautiful campus! I've been coming to the campus since I was young, so when it came time to choose a college, it was a no brainer for me to choose UMD.

Why I chose business:  I selected finance because I thought the major was very versatile. I realized very quickly that I could enter into any industry if I study finance. I decided to supplement my finance studies with information systems because I recognize the prevalence of technology today and in the future. I know those are skills I want to have for my career. Finally, I'm a French minor because I've been studying the language for over seven years, and I've grown to love the culture and language. I hope to be able to study abroad and be immersed in the French culture.

Activities I do outside of class:  Outside of class, I'm a mentor in the business school for freshmen students. I have about 15 mentees. Through this program, I attend business school events with them and answer any questions they may have about classes, professors, and clubs. It's one of my favorite activities in the business school because I love playing this big sister role and sharing my advice and experiences.

Honors and awards I have received at Maryland:  I've been on the Dean's List every semester since freshman year. Along with this scholarship, I also received the Miller Grant Scholarship.

After graduation, I plan to:  I hope to work in banking, but where within a bank is still undecided as of yet. I am considering pursuing a higher degree like an MBA, or potentially pursue a CFA. I want to continually build my skill-set and gain more technical skills.
