Preparing Your Application
 
Before submitting your application, please review the required materials below.
 
For Prior Year Award Recipients
1. Résumé (1–2 pages, PDF)
  • Summarize your academic, extracurricular, and personal achievements.
2. Official Transcripts
  • Obtain official transcripts (in PDF format) of your current and past academic work.
3. Personal Essay (1–2 pages, PDF)
  • Describe your Vietnamese, American, or other heritage and explain how it has shaped who you are today.
  • Include your community service experiences.
  • Discuss any personal hardships you have overcome in pursuing higher education.
4. Financial Statement
  • Provide an overview of your current financial situation and explain your need for financial assistance.
 
For New Applicants
1. Résumé (1–2 pages, PDF)
  • Summarize your academic, extracurricular, and personal achievements.
2. Official Transcripts
  • Obtain official transcripts (in PDF format) from your current and past academic institutions.
3. Personal Essay (1–2 pages, PDF)
  • Describe your Vietnamese, American, or other heritage and how it has influenced your identity.
  • Highlight your community service involvement.
  • Discuss any challenges or hardships you have faced while pursuing your education.
4. Letters of Recommendation (Three Total)
  • Contact three individuals who can provide one-page recommendation letters (in PDF format).
  • Each letter should include the recommender’s name, title, institution, and relationship to you.
  • Recommenders may email their letters directly to thekimmyduongfoundation@gmail.com using the subject line: “[Your Full Name] – [Your Full Home Address]” (matching your application and résumé).
5. Financial Statement
  • Describe your current financial situation and explain your need for financial assistance.

 

Submission
After gathering all required materials, complete and submit your application form. You will
receive an email confirmation once your submission is received.
